Bergen Community College is dedicated to civic engagement, part of which is working to improve the quality of life for the entire community by ensuring healthy, happy families. More than 70 percent of our students reported in a recent survey that they had family care responsibilities, while in Bergen County state-funded family planning assisted more than 9,000 families last year.
More than 50 percent of Bergen Community College students are women. The college has a large, well-staffed Wellness Center on campus because we believe that the physical and mental health of our students is important if they are to succeed academically.
The issue is state assistance for families and ensuring that all our families have healthy futures. Our state legislators must continue the fight to restore funding for family planning and reproductive medical centers.
